
"We give great importance to the intensification of the Armenian-Iranian relations in the agricultural sector and we are ready to discuss the various proposals",- said Deputy Minister of Agriculture I. Arakelyan on the meeting with Agricultural Jihad Minister Mahmoud Hojjatii's delegation in Armenia.
Press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, I. Arakelyan said: "We want to introduce to businessmen of 2 countries the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors that are attractive for development, investment and trade relations. Armenia would like to draw your special attention to the Eurasian Economic Union, the Iranian side will be able to export agricultural products to the EEC market through Armenia ".
I. Arakelyan said that there are real opportunities to invest in the agricultural sector and the implementation of joint projects in crop, livestock, fisheries and agro-processing industries.
"Armenia can become a bridge between Iran and the EEC member countries for export and import. It is necessary to create opportunities for joint investments. I think these are the areas where cooperation between the two countries should be developed and strengthened".
The Ministry informs that in the result of the meeting, the parties agreed to establish a joint working group to deal with issues of development of Armenian-Iranian cooperation in the agricultural sector.
After the meeting, it was signed a memorandum of understanding between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Plant Protection and Quarantine Cooperation, that will regulate the protection of plants.
