In May 22-26, the volume of foreign currency in the interbank market in Armenia increased by 3.4%, following the 41.8% rise in the previous week. In parallel, the positive dynamics of the dollar, euro and Russian ruble transactions in interbank market was changed to negative as in the buying and in selling. Against this background, currency exchange platform 2 times reduced weekly volume from 400 thsd to 200 thsd USD.

As a result, in the reporting week AMD consolidated at 481.5 AMD /1 USD level, at 539 AMD level against the euro and the ruble remained at the level of 8.5. Before that, on May 1-26, 2016 the US dollar strengthened to 478 AMD / US $ level, against the euro at 535 AMD /1 euro level and against the ruble by 7.4 AMD/ 1 ruble.

According to the press service of the Central Bank, NASDAQ OMX Armenia exchange market from May 22-26 the volumes totaled to 200 thsd AMD by 482 AMD / US $ average exchange rate. The volume in interbank foreign exchange market amounted to 9 million by average rate of 482.17 AMD / USD (previous week to 483.73 AMD / USD). The week in the interbank currency market was worth 400-800 thsd USD, then rising to 3.2 million and then decline to 1.9 million dollars on Friday. In parallel, in the foreign exchange market the dollar buying / selling growth dynamics of 60.1-68% was replaced by 19.2-17.8%, in euro -114.3-34.5% growth by 27.6-5.3% decline and in ruble transactions recorded 15.07% growth replaced by 36.5 % decline and in sales 41.2% growth by 0.8% decline. As a result, $ 69.8 million was purchased by 481.47 AMD / $ 1 average rate, 7.6 million euros by 537.52 AMD / EUR average exchange rate, 877.1 million rubles by 8.47 drams/ ruble average exchange rate. $ 78.1 million dollars were sold by 482.84 AMD / $ 1 average rate, 14.4 million EUR by 542.36 AMD / EUR average exchange rate and 418.8 million rubles by average exchange rate of 8.59 AMD / rubles.
