The share of GDP in the Ararat region is about 6.3%. In 2016, the volume of industrial production amounted to 178 billion 975 million drams, gross agricultural output - about 132 billion 900 million drams. The sowing of agricultural crops in the region amounted to 18,507.4 hectares, or about 73.5% of the used arable land. Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan was informed about this by the Governor of Ararat region Aramais Grigoryan on July 29 during a meeting in Ararat, where the Prime Minister discussed the process of programs and activities for the development of communities and plans for the future.

According to the information and public relations department, the Governor presented a brief report on the social and economic situation in the region and key indicators. According to him, the creation of dried fruit, greenhouse and refrigeration facilities, as well as intensive gardens, have become more active in the region. In the region there is one large community - Urtsadzor. Electronic community passports were developed, which include information on the social and economic situation and investment programs.

The governor noted that the priority tasks of 2017 are: organization of agricultural production, preparation for the irrigation season and organization of uninterrupted water supply, identification and solution of the most urgent problems of town planning and inventory, increasing access to education, development of health care and improving the quality of services. 15 investment projects worthing 1 billion 966 million dollars were submitted to the Armenian government. Two projects were confirmed: the construction of a sorting station in Vedi and the expansion of the slaughterhouse in Masis (857.5 million drams). The other applications are reviewed. According to Aramais Grigoryan, investment projects amounting to 72.6 billion drams, in the field of greenhouses, intensive gardens, light industry, road construction and other industries will be realized by state and private funds at the end of the year in the Ararat region. In the first half of the current year, plans for own revenues were realized by 35.9%, and last year by 112.2% or 93.2 million drams. The governor noted that on the instructions of the Prime Minister in 2017 personal incomes were planned more effectively as compared to 2016 - by 22.6% or 415 million drams. Within the framework of the "Clean Armenia" program, after the nationwide work party, which took place on May 27, 217 dumps out of 260 were liquidated, but the complete liquidation of the remaining 43 dumps requires state support.

Speaking about business promotion programs, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of active contacts between our compatriots abroad. "Ideas and projects should be developed in the region that will be logical for business: intensive gardens, drip systems, agricultural machinery, light industry, etc. Speaking about the reforms in the healthcare system, the Prime Minister stressed that the system has a big shadow and that from next year the distribution of the state order will be implemented on two basic principles: compulsory audit and embitterment of the commercial sector.
