The consumer price index in the second quarter of this year was 101.3% versus 98.3% of the corresponding period of the previous year.

According to the National Statistical Service, the registered inflation is conditioned by the rise in prices by 105.5% of food products (including alcoholic drinks and cigarettes).

At the same time, deflation was registered in non-food products and service groups by 97.3% and 98.2%, respectively.

According to the same source, the growth rate of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first quarter made 106.5%.

The volume of GDP in current prices in the first quarter of this year made 971 904.0 mln. AMD, including the volume of agriculture - 54 205.0 mln. or 5.6% of GDP. In the first quarter of 2017 a 3.8% decline in agriculture (96.2%) was registered parallel with the 6.5% GDP growth (106.5%).

Average number of economically active population in Armenia in the first quarter of 2017 made 1 202.9 thousand people, 81.0% or 974.5 thousand people were busy in the economy, including 26.8% the agricultural sector.
