According to the 2018-2022 Master Plan of Zvartnots international airport it is planned to pull down the old building of the airport, preserving the tower.

The government's approval document states that the building is to be pulled down in 2018-2019, in case of permission from the city hall.

The demolition will cost $ 750,000 the tower fortification- $ 1 million.

In 2018-22 passenger traffic is expected to increase to 2.8-2.9 million passengers per year. It is expected that thanks to the new "open air" policy adopted by the Government of Armenia, a considerable increase in passenger flow will be registered in the coming years.

"If in the next three years the passenger traffic exceeds the forecast, we will expand the seating area. This will allow landing and flight of several planes at the same time, as well as provide a wider space for passenger comfort in the seating area, "says the document.

These works are planned to be implemented in 2022-2023. The approximate cost of the project will be introduced in 2018.

Till 2030 if passengers flow reaches 6 million per year, according to the plans drawn up in the document, it is envisaged to build a second terminal and a larger expansion of the seating area.
