
President Serzh Sargsyan received the Chief Executive Officer of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Anthony de Lano.
Welcoming the guest, the President of Armenia highlighted the visit of the delegation headed by him to Armenia before the talks on the new program of cooperation with the IMF and expressed hope that the visit would be productive for further development of the projects, targets, as well as from the perspective of exchanging thoughts over current issues.
The President informed that Armenia's development strategy till 2030 is at the stage of development and, according to him, the visit of the IMF mission and the views and assessments of the fund's team will be quite helpful in the targets set out in that strategy.
Serzh Sargsyan highly assessed Armenia's cooperation with the IMF over the past years, noting that thanks to the joint efforts of international financial institutions, including the joint programs in Armenia with the active participation of the IMF it has become possible to implement reforms in various fields and increase the efficiency of the economy. The President thanked the Foundation for its support and CEO Anthony de Lano for the proper representation of Armenia's interests in the IMF. President Sargsyan assured that Armenia is determined to implement the reforms and structural changes of the IMF's previous program, which will be of continuous nature.
Executive Director of the IMF Dutch Belgian Subgroup Anthony de Lano also praised the successful implementation of Armenia's previous program with the Fund and expressed hope that the next project will be developed and successfully implemented.
The interlocutors agreed that the economic growth should be inclusive and considerable for all citizens of Armenia, so further joint efforts should be aimed at that goal. Emphasizing that Armenia is on the right path, the IMF Executive Director expressed readiness to continue supporting the development of Armenia's economy and welfare of its citizens.
