There is great potential in the Armenian-Chinese relations in the field of agriculture and it is necessary to clarify the possible directions of cooperation in the context of current geopolitical developments.

During the meeting the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia Ignati Arakelyan and the Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Tien Gunroll stressed.

Referring to the "PrO Wine China 2017" exhibition held in Shanghai, China in November 2017, for the first time a number of Armenian winemaking and brandy companies took part, Minister Ignati Arakelyan suggested joint measures to promote Armenian wine and brandy products in the Chinese market. The minister also informed that a viticulture and winemaking foundation has been set up in Armenia, which is actively engaged in this field.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ignati Arakelyan expressed confidence that increasing the recognition of Armenian agricultural products in the Chinese market will lead to increased interest in Armenian products and inflow of Chinese investments.

Ambassador Tien-Erlong, in his turn, considered expedient to cooperate in the organization of joint production of greenhouses. He expressed confidence that the products produced in the greenhouses of Armenia will have realistic opportunities for sale in the foreign market.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China also touched upon the "China International Import Expo 2018" to be held in Shanghai in November 2018 and suggested that Armenian representatives of the agro-food sector also participate in this major event.
