"Over the past one and a half years our country has dropped loan interest rates and deposits. Why did not it happen four or five years ago?, "Mikayel Melkumyan asked CB Chairman Artur Javadyan during the annual report on the Central Bank's activity in the parliament today.
"From 2014 till now interest rates on loans have dropped by 4 percentage points, in dram loans - by 3.6 %, and in foreign currency - by 4.5 %. Interest margin has also been reduced in terms of deposits, interest margin currently makes 1.9 for dram deposits and 2% -in foreign currency, "Javadyan said.
CB president reminded that before the downfall they had two major crises - in 2008 and 2014. "In order to overcome the crisis, we have strictly pursued a monetary policy, after which we tried to weaken the conditions very smoothly, taking into account inflationary risks."
