The process of issuing new mining licenses was suspended in Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said, presenting the program of the new government in the National Assembly.

According to him, it is necessary to carry out a detailed study of the issue to reveal possible ecological and corruption risks. It is important to get full information about the processes taking place in the mining industry, as the matter concerns national wealth and the strategic interests of the state, the prime minister said. He reminded that he had instructed to start inspections in the exploited mines and mineral deposits in Armenia. "The work of the group, which will involve specialists, ecologists, public and government representatives, as well as journalists, will be transparent. "As a result, decisions will be made that will correspond to the national interests of the country," the Prime Minister emphasized.
