Head of the RA Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan's office Varag Siseryan received a group of Alaverdi copper smelter, the Deputy Prime Minister's office informs.
During the meeting, the employees of the copper smelter mentioned that in case of closure of the plant about 630 employees will lose their jobs, which will lead to sharp deterioration of the social situation in Alaverdi. The main requirement of the staff was to ensure further work of the copper smelter regardless of its ownership.
Varag Siseryan noted that Tigran Avinyan's office is in constant contact with the copper smelting department and is now looking for solutions not to stop the plant's work. Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan and Vallex Group Chairman Valeri Mejlumyan are expected to meet on Monday, as a result of which it will be clear what direction to follow.
Varag Sisseryan also added that regardless of the current situation, it is necessary to work to attract new investments and create opportunities that will lead to job creation and sustainable development of regions, urban and rural communities.
