Acting Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan's office has issued a statement announcing the creation of a “Manukyan Simon” Research Foundation (SSSF) with initial funding of $ 200,000.

Thanks to the cooperation and efforts of Acting Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, Managing Director of the “Manukyan Simon” Foundation Christine Simon and Chairman of the American University of Armenia (AUA) Armen Ter-Kyureghyan on October 10 AUA signed an agreement with MSF with initial funding of 200 thousand dollars to create a Manukyan Simon Research Foundation (MSRF). MSRF will be used by Armenian universities, local as well as international experts to conduct research on topics of interest to the Government of Armenia.

In this regard, Acting Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan said: "This is one of the regular outcomes of our working visit to the United States and Canada. "Manukyan Simon" Research Foundation will promote government-scientific communication and development of a policy based on analysis of facts. We attach great importance to the role of Christine Simon and the Manukyan Simon Foundation in this process and thank them for the support shown to Armenia and government reforms. We also thank the American University of Armenia, in the face of Mr. Ter-Kyureghyan, who has been able to implement this initiative through effective collaboration. "

The priorities for research topics will be determined by the Deputy Prime Minister's Office. The Committee of Experts designated by the Government, the AUA and MSRF will examine the research topics, make suggestions, and get applications from Armenian universities and experts.

Besides the aforementioned, MSRF will award scholarships to Bachelor, Master or Graduate Students. The Expert Committee will announce topics and receive scholarship applications from interested students. The goal of this component of the project is to develop research capabilities at university students.
