In connection with the 25th anniversary of the Armenian dram, from November 22, third generation banknotes will be put into circulation gradually. The Central Bank of Armenia has released a video about new banknotes.

New generation banknotes are printed on high-quality composite raw materials, as a result banknotes can be used on average 3-4 times longer. New generation banknotes include the best security features currently available, visible and invisible fibers included in banknote raw materials, protective paint, protective touches that distort the image in the case of scanning or copying paper, as well as reflective paint fragments that are visible only under UV light. .
The banknotes also have miniature letters and symbols that are visible only with a magnifying glass, as well as a transparent window. On new banknotes there are some numbers, words and images, as well as a feature for people with visual impairments - symbols that have a deep seal and relief and are clearly detectable.
The banknote of 1000 drams will be dedicated to Paruyr Sevak, 5,000 drams to William Saroyan, 10,000 drams to Komitas, 20,000 drams to Hovhannes Aivazovsky, 50,000 drams to Gregory the Illuminator. In addition, banknotes with a nominal value of 2000 drams - with a portrait of Tigran Petrosyan, will go into circulation.

A banknote with a nominal value of 100.000 drams, depicting the king Abgar, remains in circulation, and the current banknotes of the second generation will be withdrawn from circulation as they wear out.
