In order to strengthen transport links and promote economic growth in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) member states, the European Commission and the World Bank co-sponsored the Indicative Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) investment program developed for Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Belarus , Moldova and Ukraine. This is stated on the official website of the European Commission.
In these countries, 13 billion euros will be allocated for investment projects. As a result, 4800 km of roads and railways, six ports and 11 logistics centers will be built. In addition, the old roads, railways, ports, airports, logistics centers and border crossings will be repaired.
European Commissioner for European Policy and Neighborhood Enlargement Johannes Hann said that the new investment program is designed to provide significant and tangible results for the people of the Eastern Partnership countries.
Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulk added that improving transport links between the EU and the Eastern Partnership region can contribute to economic growth and the creation of new jobs.
The investment program includes both short-term and long-term projects, some of which will be completed by 2020, and the other part - by 2030.
