Rietumu's Board of Directors, based on the circumstances, has decided in the Latvian banking sector that the base currency of servicing accounts will now be the euro, Rietumu banka's press service reports.

Customers were offered to exchange dollars for euros and use them for payments. Other funds remaining in the dollar will be exchanged in euros automatically.

The Rietumu bank statement notes that the decision to make euro a base currency for servicing accounts, taking into consideration the fact that the US dollar payment operations may be complicated by problems with the reputation of the Latvian banking system.
