VTB Bank CEO Andrey Kostin said that in case of new sanctions against Russia, he does not expect a serious threat to the banking sector.

Kostin said that, in his opinion, sanctions against Russia will not have Iranian scenario.

In addition, the banking sector will not suffer even under conditions of restrictions.

"I believe that, in general, the banking sector is reliable enough to work further and ensure economic growth," said Kostin, speaking at the forum of the Financial University.

It should be noted that in January-October 2018, the revenues of the Russian banking sector increased 1.7 times over the same period last year and amounted to 1 trillion 183 billion rubles. The assets of the banking system increased by 5.85 trillion rubles and reached 90.6 trillion rubles for 10 months. In October, deposits of the population increased by 0.6%, their volume reached 27.1 trillion rubles, which is 29.9% of banks' liabilities.
