Japan, following China, South Korea, India and Turkey, resumed imports of Iranian oil, the head of Iran’s central bank, Abdolnaser Hemmati, said.
“Following China, South Korea, India and Turkey, Japan also began to import Iranian oil,” IRNA quoted him as saying. “Gradually, new revenues from the sale of hydrocarbons will flow into the country's economy.”
He noted that thanks to the agreements signed between the Central Bank and exporting companies, "the export of Iran's non-oil resources will also increase."
“I assure our citizens that the state has enough foreign exchange reserves to fully meet the basic needs of people,” he added.
US President Donald Trump announced in May that Washington is withdrawing from the Nuclear Program Treaty with Iran. He also announced the restoration of all sanctions against this country, including minor ones, that is, against other countries that do business with Iran.
The United States announced a series of sanctions against Iran on August 7. Washington announced the goal of reducing the export of Iranian oil to zero and urged its buyers to abandon such purchases.
Additional US sanctions against Iran, including oil exports, entered into force on November 5. At the same time, Washington granted temporary relief from oil sanctions for Italy, Greece, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Turkey and Taiwan.
