At the meeting headed by Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, in Sisian, Syunik region, the process of community development programs, work done and plans for the future were discussed.

According to the information and public relations department of the Armenian government, presenting the socio-economic situation in the region and macroeconomic indicators, Syunik Governor Vahe Hakobyan noted that during the year, mainly they managed to carry out activities aimed at socio-economic development in the region for 2014 -2017 years. Necessary assistance was provided to 72 communities in the development and implementation of regional programs.

In Syunik region in 2016 administrative changes were made in two stages, as a result of which 5 large communities were organized: Tatev, Goris, Tekh, Meghri and Gorayk. In 2017, three communities were formed: Kapan, Sisian and Kajaran, which include 67 communities. According to Vahe Hakobyan, in 2017 the budget of the region will be 4.7 billion, including own revenues of about 1.6 billion dollars.

In the six-month period, the collection of own revenues, instead of the envisaged 614.7 million drams, amounted to 697.5 million drams or 113.5%. Compared with the same period of last year, 10.2 million drams were collected, the growth of own revenues was by 17.2%. Last year in the region, construction works were carried out for the amount of 6.9 billion drams, of which 23.8% were taken from the state budget, and 76.2% from other sources of financing
