September 28 is the International Day of Tourism.

According to the United Nations, tourism has expanded and grown over the past 60 years. Today, the industry is considered the fastest growing. In 1950 the number of tourists made 25 million, and in 2015 - 1.2 billion.

In 2015, the United States earned 1.26 trillion dollars by tourism. Tourism accounts for 10% of global GDP. One of the 10 capable people is involved in this field.

According to forecasts of the International Tourism Agency, by the year 2030 it is expected to increase by 3.3%. It will also be conditioned by the exercise of the right to rest, defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

International Tourism Day has coincided with the awarding of future guides. My Armenia Program funded by USAID and implemented by the Smithsonian Institution had organized two months interactive training for young guides in Syunik, Vayots Dzor and Lori Regions; the trainings were conducted by professional experts from Armenian Guides Guild. 31 tour guides received professional accreditation at the event organized with the Armenian Guides Guild.
