
In the intra-banking foreign exchange market of Armenia, from January 8 to 12, volumes decreased by 0.3% as compared with the previous week.
Moreover, transactions have taken place every day, and the largest deals on Mondays and Sundays.
Simultaneously, the interest in the dollar and ruble transactions in the intra-bank foreign currency market dropped, whereas the interest in buying transactions in the euro increased. The stock market was also positive. As a result, during the first week of 2018, the dollar started to strengthen at the level of $ 483 / USD, weakening against the euro
to 582 drams/euro, and the ruble continued to depreciate up to 8.5 drams/ruble.
According to the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia, the volume of transactions in the inter-bank currency market made $ 18.950 mln at an average weighted exchange rate of 485.09 drams, the maximum volume was recorded on Monday and Tuesday- $ 6.6mln and $ 7 million respectively.
