ESET experts have discovered a new fraud scheme. The Pingu Cleans Up has led users to an expensive service using Google Play legal payment method.

The Pingu Cleans Up game was first released on February 8, 2018 at the App Store. It has been downloaded from 50 to 100 thousand times. After loading the app to a tablet or smartphone, it is recommended to create a game hero. In the first two phases, choosing the required attributes, the potential victim should choose in the appeared window the button "Confirm". At the last stage, a user with a bank card attached to Google Play sees a window that reminds him the previous one. However, the difference is that the "Confirm" button has been replaced by "Subscribe".

By clicking on the button, the user subscribes to the service at 5.49 euros per week. The payment will be automatically deducted from the card until the subscription is cancelled.
