Swiss banks have blocked Russian businessman Victor Wexelberg's personal funds, fearing to appear in the US sanctions list, reports Forbes.

According to the source of "Renova" group, the blocked assets make about one billion Swiss francs (about $ 1 billion).

Wexelberg's funds were blocked by UBS, Credit Suisse and Julius Baer banks. The United States has imposed new sanctions on Russia in early April, including the list of Russian businessmen and their affiliates.
