Tronc media company, the owner of New York Daily News, has decided to cut down 50 % of its employees.

Yesterday employees received a letter from Tronc saying that Daily News would "be completely transformed."

"We reduce the editorial team by about 50 % and focus on urgent news," the letter says.

It is also reported that employees subject to dismissal will leave immediately and their salaries for the next three months will be paid. Editor-in-chief of New York Daily News Jim Rich and Christine Lee have been removed from their jobs.
