The Bank of Russia may cancel the mandatory reporting form on cyber attacks used by banks to exchange information with the regulator, said Deputy Head of the Information Security Department of the Central Bank of Russia Artem Sychev.
“As part of the exchange of information, we will increase this volume and gradually abandon the mandatory report form. The ability to analyze primary data is more effective than the reporting form, ”he said, adding that such innovations are primarily aimed at overcoming the additional burden on banks.
“Banks are more interested in transferring information in raw form. The report is a collection within the bank, which includes a number of processes. But if they can give us information in an unprocessed form, then why load them more? ”He said.
At the same time Sychev did not give exact dates.
It should be noted that since July 1, the computer center for monitoring and responding to attacks in the credit and financial sector of Russia has received over 13,000 cyber attacks from banks and payment infrastructure operators, RNS reports, citing the regulator’s press service.
From July 1, the Central Bank instructed banks and operators of payment infrastructure services to report cyber attacks and their technical parameters to the computer center for monitoring and responding to attacks in the credit and financial sector of Russia.
