Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron said that, despite the discontent and protests of the country's population, he would continue the reforms he had begun earlier.

"The resolution of the crisis is not about abandoning what we have done in the past 18 months," said Macron of the Versailles dinner, which he organized for representatives of Microsoft, Snapchat, JPMorgan Chase & Co.

At the same time, Macron drew an analogy with the Louis XVI king of France executed more than 200 years ago.

"He ended his life in this way precisely because he refused to carry out reforms," the president said.

The French president said that, in his opinion, the speeches of the "yellow vests" were part of a manifestation of middle-class concern about globalization, which led to Brexit in the UK, as well as to the growth of prestige of populist parties in Germany or Italy.
