From March 1, 2020, Luxembourg will introduce free public transport on buses, trams and suburban trains, said the Minister of Mobility of the Grand Duchy, Francois Bausch.

"This is the cherry on the cake of a comprehensive transport strategy," the newspaper Luxemburger Wort quotes him.

The exception will be travel in the first-class carriage of suburban trains, which will remain charged.
The cost of the project is estimated by the authorities at 41 million euros per year.

The population of Luxembourg is a little more than 600 thousand people, of which 48% are foreigners.
