The Central Bank of Russia reported that the number of counterfeit banknotes circulating in the country decreased by 15% over the year.

“In 2018, the number of counterfeit banknotes decreased by 15 percent. In 2018, the Bank of Russia found 38,504 counterfeit banknotes in the banking system of the Russian Federation, ”the Central Bank said in a statement.

It is noted that banknotes with higher denominations are falsified more often.

The share of banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles in the total number of fakes is insignificant, and they are of low quality.

According to the newspaper "Izvestia", the US dollar is the leader in counterfeiting among foreign banknotes.
