SOCAR Georgia Gas (SGG), a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the main supplier of natural gas to Georgia, has announced an increase in gas prices. For commercial subscribers of the retail network, the price of one cubic meter for gas will increase by 10.5%.
According to SGG, “the price adjustment is due to the change in the exchange rate of the national currency (GEL) against the US dollar and the speed of gas distribution.”
The new tariff will come into force on March 1.
In 2015, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan refused to raise the gas tariff for commercial consumers in Georgia. The country experienced a rise in prices for bread and some other products on the market, as well as in the field of education, but SGG refused to implement the idea of inflation in the gas sector.
