According to the World Tourism and Travel Council (WTTC), Brexit can lead to unemployment. The Associated Press reports that some 700,000 people in the tourism industry will be unemployed.

According to the WTTC, if Brexit passes without signing an agreement on future relations, it will threaten about 308,000 jobs in the UK and 399,000 in other EU countries.

The WTTC forecast, representing the travel and tourism sector worldwide, is based on data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

WTTC President and CEO Gloria Gevere said that “tough Brexit” will have a significant impact on one of the most important sectors of the UK economy.
