The chairman of the Supreme Court of Iran, Ayatollah Ardeshir Amoli Larijani, said that Tehran would not agree with the conditions put forward by the Europeans for launching the mechanism of financial operations with the Islamic Republic. He called the mechanism "inadequate" and its working conditions "degrading".
In January, the governments of Germany, France and the UK registered INSTEX (Trade Exchanges Support Instrument) to assist European countries in trade relations with Iran, bypassing US sanctions.
“After nine months of delays and negotiations, the Europeans created a mechanism with limited capabilities not for money exchange, but for food and medicine,” Tasnim agency quotes Larijani's words.
He explained that the EU has established "strange conditions" for the implementation of the mechanism. Tehran must join an intergovernmental organization fighting money laundering and enter into negotiations on its missile program.
“These countries should know that Iran will never accept these degrading conditions,” he said.
