George Soros, an American business tycoon, philanthropist, politician and billionaire, said in an article entitled "Europe, please wake up" that the European Union could collapse, as happened with the USSR.

“Europe is moving towards oblivion, and European people must wake up before it is too late. If they do not do this, the EU will follow the same path as the USSR in 1991, ”said Soros in an article posted on the Project Syndicate website.

“Neither our leaders nor ordinary citizens understand that the decisive moment is coming now,” said Soros, adding that the “crucial moment” will be elections to the European Parliament in May 2019. He notes that “anti-European forces will have a competitive advantage” for various reasons, including an outdated party system.
